After their releases of their critically acclaimed fifth album ‚Five (2011) and Backspace Unwind (2014) , Lamb returned in 2017 with their “Twenty-One” anniversary tour for 2 fantastic shows in Germany.
It seems like only yesterday we started out in a dusty basement in South Manchester but we’re very excited to announce that this year is the 21st anniversary of the release of our first album, “Lamb”.
The band from Manchester is producer Andy Barlow and singer-songwriter Lou Rhodes. Their music is heavily influenced by hip hop, drum ’n‘ bass and jazz styles, which they successfully combine to achieve their electronic genre. Although Andy and Lou were the two founders of the band and the key members, they also expanded to welcome bass guitarist Jon Thorne, guitarist Oddur Mar Runnarson, and drummer Nikolaj Bjerre. Once complete, in 1996 the- now multi cultural- band went on to release their first self-titled album, which after success consequently followed the release of four more albums and numerous successful singles.
After various solo projects, the band came back together in five years later in 2009. Their first performance since the break up in 2004 was at ‚The Big Chill music festival‘, they then subsequently went on to perform live at numerous British festivals, including, Glastonbury, Cactus Festival and Beautiful Days Festival as well as other throughout Europe…
Lou Rhodes and Andy Barlow understand difference more than most. They’re the first to admit that when they got together their diametrically opposing aesthetics – Lou’s devotion to The Song, Andy’s obsession with all things beats-driven and electronic and his complete disinterest in vocals – created problems. Often, the very glue that bound them together nearly saw them come unstuck. But those differences also bred a mutual respect and resulted in one of the most genuinely genre-bending dance albums of the mid-90s.
